Can Vasectomy affect your Sex Drive

Vasectomy is a surgical procedure in which the tubes carrying sperms from Epididymis to Ejaculatory duct in men are cut and tied up to avoid conception. Going back to history- the first vasectomy was performed on dog in 1823. And R. Harrison from London did first human vasectomy. Vasectomy- could be better choice for both men and women as it's is cheaper and one time investment for permanent birth control.Though it's a permanent technique of birth control but there are lot of myths associated with it.

In US , Canada along with developing countries like India there is huge difference between men and women undergoing such sterilization techniques as women mostly undergo through such surgical procedures. But the question is why don't men choose for vasectomy? Well you don't need to go somewhere else let me assist you a little bit. Here are the some reasons and myths that men thinks

Affect their Libido- Most of the men think that after Vasectomy it will affect their sex drive and orgasm as they won't be able to perform well during sexual intercourse.

Affect their manliness- As being a man it is necessary to produce offspring because a man without child is supposed to be an impotent and questions arise on his manliness.

Affect penile errection - It is not observed that man undergoing for vasectomy is having an Errectile Dysfunction- it's a myth.

High risk of cancer- There is no any evidence or study that can prove that after Vasectomy men can have a prostate or other reproductive Cancer. This myth is predominantly seen in western countries.

Why Vasectomy- could be a better choice for both men and women ?

Men can choose Vasectomy as permanent solution for birth control if they are certain not to be a father anymore. Both partners should give a time, think wisely and only then should undergo this sterilization technique. Some of the benefits of Vasectomy for both the partners includes :-

✓ Almost 100% effective method.

✓ It has minimal or no side affects at all.

✓ Quite cheaper than other birth control methods and even lesser than Tubectomy (Sterilization technique for women).

✓ Good for women as they do not need to dependent on Contraceptives Pills for life long.

✓ Aid in prevention of hereditary disorders to offsprings like Sickle Cell Anemia, Muscular Dystrophy, Hemophilia, Cystic Fibrosis etc.

✓ If women is at high Health risk after conceiving or becoming pregnant.

✓ If partners do not want to be a parents anymore.

✓ Quick recovery is observed after Vasectomy sterilization.

Complications of Vasectomy

Vasectomy is almost 100% effective with rare  complications that are seen in patients undergoing it. Some of them includes :-

Early complications

✓ Swelling of Scrotal Sac.

✓ Mild pain or discomfort can be observed after Surgery.

Bruising over Scrotum can be seen in some cases.

✓ Your doctor may advise you to wear tight undergarments after surgical procedure to prevent severity of Scrotum swelling.

Late complications

Haematoma- This can occur only if doctor mistakenly cut your testicular artery and other blood vessels.

Hydrocele (fluid gets deposited in Scrotal Sac) and Spermatocele (Cyst development in epididymis)- these are rare complications.

✓ In some cases , Sperm leakage can occurs due to slippage of ligature from one of the tube leading to inflammation which is known as Granuloma.

✓ In rarest cases because of unexperienced doctors - ligature can slip and eventually connect with other parts resulting an unexpected pregnancy.

In addition, after Vasectomy- Semen (secretions from Seminal Vesicles, Prostate and Cowper's gland) is free from the Sperms . Those Sperms which gets accumulated and produced by body are degenerated after 4-5 days of production. Further, they are absorbed in blood stream and engulfed by Macrophages.

Is it possible to be a father again after Vasectomy?

This is the question that comes frequently in men's mind. What if man wants to be a father again?

Yes, it is possible to reverse Vasectomy this method is known as Vasectomy Reversal. This is an another surgical procedure in which doctor will anastomose the corresponding vas deferens. But this method is quite complicated and it is not always effective. Apart from it, our medical science is developed so far- because now we have Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) like In-vitro fertilization (IVF) that can be used in such cases. Also, doctors can directly remove sperms from epididymis of Scrotum and transfer it in female fallopian tube, this method is known as Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT).

                               Now, we probably know that Vasectomy- sterilization method is simply 10-30 minutes procedure that can be performed in Out Patients Department (OPD) under local anaesthesia-  at lowest price with quick recovery and low risk of complications. And it is good to mention here that Vasectomy- do not avoid Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

Pic credit- healthguide911.com

                                   But the question is how do you know that its normal or abnormal? Well you cannot go to doctors every time during discharge. So its necessary to know something about this to every female .

SYMPTOMS

Vaginal discharge is accompanied by

* Itching

* Burning

* Foul smell of discharge

* Unusual colour of discharge

* In some cases dysuria(difficult to pass urine) and dyspareunia(pain during sexual intercourse) can also be seen.

Abnormal discharge

Most oftenly the discharge from vagina is governed by hormones and apart from it its due to Vaginal infection by different pathogens like bacteria, fungi, parasitic protozoans ,cancers etc. Usually normal vaginal discharge colour ranges from light greyish- colourless- creamy white and its without foul smell

                     Apart from such type of colour and smells other types of blotches can be appeared on underpants .for ex.

1. Greenish colour

This type of frothy discharge has
 ^ foul smell,
 ^ intense itching
 ^ dysuria
 ^ due to parasitic protozoans - Trichomonas vaginalis (transmitted during intercourse) Such colour indicates trichomoniasis infection.

2. Curdy white colour

This type of discharge has
^ intense itching on vagina and vulva
^ vulval excoriation can appear
^ caused by fungal species of candida resulting candidiasis.

3. Fishy smell or metallic colour

This discharge  has
^ foul smell like ammonia
^ no itching
^ pH >4.5
  due to bacterial infection causing bacterial vaginosis aka vaginitis.

4. Greenish or yellowish colour

Such colour blotch  is seen when you are attacked by

^ Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea like pathogens
^ a sexually transmitted infection .

5. Red colour

* Red vaginal discharge occur basically when females is about to start menses.

* If its not then there may be internal injury or other chances of cervical Cancer, endometrial cancer etc.

6. Brownish colour

* Such type of discharge is just because of mixture of few blood (left during menses) with normal transparent discharge.

* It's due to Vaginal acidity and occurs mainly before or after menstrual cycle.

* If it's in the mid of cycle then it is supposed to be abnormal.

DISCHARGE DURING PREGNANCY

* As I mentioned it earlier our discharge type is physiologically depends on hormones (estrogen and progesterone).

^ Before ovulation estrogen has a control and discharge white colour mucus which is prominently seen with high Stretching ability at 14th day of 28th day menstruation.This is thin in nature.

^ After an ovulation control is given to progesterone. It makes endometrium secretory  with thick type mucus and discharge. It resembles egg white type of discharge.

* During or at an early pregnancy vaginal discharge occurs frequently in order to prevent infection and other foreign bodies as cervix and vagina softens that time.

Treatment

Thes things can be prevented and treated by medications like

* Maintain intimate hygiene

* Don't use soap while cleaning vagina

* Cleaning vagina after intercourse

* Wearing dry undergarments

* Changing sanitary pads after 4-6 hours(avoid tampon during abnormal discharge).

* Antibiotics for bacterial vaginosis like tinidazole , metronidazole.

* Antifungal for fungal Candidiasis like clotrimazole, miconazole

* For STIs like Chlamydia- Azithromycin is advised and Gonorrhoea - ceftriaxone is preferred.

Additionally it is also observed in a survey that 85% of women are satisfied with their partners' penis size and girth except 12-15% womens. Markets has a lot of pills and lotions that claim to increase penis size and girth. But the question is are they affective enough???. * Borrowing fat cells- This includes extraction of some fat cells from other body parts that will be added on penis to increase its girth mainly and length too.

* Ligaments cutting - In this surgery type your penile ligaments is cut down from pubis that mainly help in holding penis . This will sum up 2-3 cms in your penis length.

Nutrition

There are some nutrition that can boost up blood supply in your penis and make it harder and if used for long time then will increase penile sensitivity.

* Caffeine and iron-  Increasing blood and its flow to penis muscle.

* Avocados- It has zinc that increase testosterone & vit -E to increase sperm quality

    These are the certain factors by which you can add up size and girth on your penis, increase blood flow and sensitivity naturally.

 Let me know how many of you are getting benefited by these methods in comments section below.

Warning signs and symptoms of BREAST CANCER. | Types| causes | Risk factors

Introduction

Breast cancer is one of the kind of cancer which is seen predominantly in females after skin cancer. Breast cancer can also occur in mens. Our breast has mainly three parts lobules, ducts and connective tissues.
Lobules is a part where milk is synthesized and ducts carry them forward to the nipple which is used during lactation.

Photo- wired.com

                              Overactive and uncontrollable cell growth of any tissue of body leads to accumulation , forming a mass or lumpy structure. Breast cancer can be benign (if its not spreading to other regions) or malignant (if its spreading to other regions via blood or lymphatic system).

Types

Most common type of breast cancer include
Invasive ductal carcinoma (malignant form of ducts) and invasive lobular carcinoma (malignant form of  lobules). But apart from it there are other types too

1. Paget's disease of nipple

2. Inflammatory breast cancer

3. Ductal carcinoma in situ

4. Recurrent , Angiosarcoma, Medullary , mucinous etc.

Causes

It's hard to speak but there is no any exact causes that can typically depict that because of it breast cancer occurs.

                  However, scientists beleive that its because of genetic and environmental factors. Additionally doctors believe that about 8-10% of breast cancer is somehow linked to hereditary genes from family. Although there are numbers of genes that are likely to cause breast cancer but among them breast cancer gene 1 (BRCA 1) & breast cancer gene 2 (BRCA 2) are more prominently found to identified to increase the risk of having breast cancer.

                  These genes are also responsible for increasing ovarian cancer risk. If you've a family history of any types of cancer like these then you probably may have a chance of developing such malignancy.

Symptoms

Early breast cancer is usually asymptomatic in nature. But gradually  prolonged undiagnosed breast cancer can show some following symptoms-

* Asymmetrical breast ( Change in breast size and shape)

* Skin dimpling (kind of depression) over the chest

* Recent nipple inversion

* lump like appearance

* Texture of skin over breast changes

* Sudden bloody nipple discharge

* Axillary lymph nodes pain with axillary lump

* Orange like pitting pin hole skin . Sometimes rashes and even flakes over areola

* Dilated veins

However its should be noted that

^  pain and discomfort are typically not present

^ lump presence doesn't necessarily indicate that its cancer

^ if you see any kind of sudden and abnormal changes on breast then consult doctors immediately.

Risk factors

Breast cancer risk factors include-

* Ageing

* Family history of breast or ovarian cancer inherent BRCA 1 & BRCA 2

* Early onset of menstruation (menarche <12 years)

* Late cessation of menstruation (menopause after 55)

* Pregnancy at old age(>35 years)

* Never being pregnant (infertile)

* Females who do not breast feed their young ones

* Consumption of alcohol

* Females who are obese are more likely to develop it.

* Females on medications like hormonal therapy after menopause , for normal menstruation , birth control pills . Such females administer mainly combination of estrogen and progesterone causing hormonal imbalance.

Treatment

Treatment of breast cancer patients may consist of

* Hormonal therapy

* Radiation therapy

* Chemotherapy with anti - cancer drugs

* Lumpectomy ( removing cancerous lump),

* mastectomy ( complete breast removal) etc.

PCOS( Polycystic ovary syndrome) | cause | symptoms | complications | diets | remedies | treatment

 INTRODUCTION

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder seen in women during their reproductive phase ( 15-45 years). According to a one report, about 27% of women are having this syndrome and 65-70% of them don't even know about it, due to lack of diagnosis.

  In PCOS, womens have high level of   androgens as compared to normal level of other hormones like estrogen and progesterone - that regulates the menstrual cycle. Because of it there is a formation of many fluid filled sac like structure inside ovary appearing like cyst and hence the name of the syndrome is.

                         Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) & Leutinizing hormone (LH) help in follicles development and ovulation. But as there is high level of androgens in such womens it obstruct the both ovaries and ovulation. And such females can even have a periods less than eight or nine times annually. If it's not diagnosed or treated on time then it can lead to many complications like

* Infertility

* Irregular and infrequent uterine bleeding

* Diabetes mellitus etc

CAUSES

Exact cause of PCOS is still unknown but research and doctors claim - it happens mainly due to high androgens level in body . Apart from it others

Genetics

* You might be having few genes from heredity that converge to PCOS .

Insulin resistance

* Females who are unaware of  their undiagnosed PCOS they consume high carbohydrates and high fatty foods and slowly over period of time become obese.

* Such obese females then become insulin resistance. And gradually body demands non-worthy extra insulin from beta cells of pancreas but it remains as its due to insulin resistant of body along with high blood sugar level in their blood stream.

* Resulting in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

* Also blood insulin promotes extra production of androgens in body .

Low grade inflammation due to WBCs in their body which is caused because of high androgenic hormone levels.

SYMPTOMS

Some females can identify it earlier while others can get it later on. Major symptoms of it includes:-

* Irregular & infrequent heavy periods- due to lack of sufficient female hormones blocking ovulation . And as there is building of uterine lining over period of time and when menstruation occurrs eventually it bleeds so high.

* Hirsutism- PCOS females can have hairs on their face and on their other body like in males .

* Oily skin- Due to high androgens it leads to oily skin that can cause many acne and pimples on their face.

* Thining of hair and even like male pattern baldness

* Obesity is visible

* Hormonal change causes depression and anxiety

* High blood glucose level ,high blood pressure and high triglycerides level because of obesity and insulin resistance diabetes mellitus.

* Skin darkening around neck, groin and  under breast like acanthosis nigricans.

COMPLICATIONS

* Infertility

* Cardiovascular complications

* Gestational diabetes

* High cholesterol level

DIAGNOSIS

There are few PCOS tests that your doctor can perform like

* Physical pelvic examination for to find out any abnormality including reproductive parts.

* Normal or transvaginal Ultrasound (USG) if needed

* Different blood tests

 ^ for blood glucose level(fasting, rapid)

 ^ for cholesterol level

 ^ for androgens level

 ^ for estrogen and progesterone level checking

TREATMENT AND REMEDIES

Sorry but exact treatment of PCOS is not there. We can treat symptomatically . Also the main treatment of PCOS is change in lifestyle of patient. Further if no characteristic recovery is seen then we can go for medications.

* PCOS remedies- Reduce your weight, it is estimated that if you'll reduce minimum 5-8% of your total body weight then you may not be having PCOS and that can help you to reduce other risks factors. You can do it by

^ eating complex carbohydrates that degrade slowly

^ eating low fat, low LDL(bad) ,high HDL(good) cholesterol in diet.

^ drinking sufficient 3-4 L water daily will help you to boost up your metabolism .

^ doing minimum 30-60 minutes exercise twice in a day like cardio, running, jogging, swimming, etc

* For normal menstruation cycle doctor  can prescribe you diabetic medicine (like metformin) and birth control pills that contain a combination of estrogen and progesterone that will rise up female hormones than androgens .

* Can advice you progestin therapy too

* Electrolysis procedure can be preferred for damaging excessive unnecessary hair follicles on unwanted body parts like face.

* Clomiphene like drug will be helpful to conceive in PCOS females and can it can lead to multiple births like twins etc.

* If no treatment is worthy then last option is to go under surgery  in which laparoscopic surgeon may make various tiny holes by tiny needles on ovary in order to make it ready for ovulation.
